Spot turmeric prices decreased by ₹400 a quintal at Erode markets on heavy arrivals.
“Due to the increase in price for the past few days, the turmeric farmers brought heavy quantity for sale. On Tuesday, 12,600 bags arrived for sale. Traders who have upcountry orders purchased 55 per cent of the stock by quoting decreased price. But the Salem Hybrid is fetching / 9,000 a quintal,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.
The finger turmeric was down ₹400 a quintal and the root variety by ₹150.
At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹5,559-8,769 a quintal; the root variety ₹5,299-8,327. Of the arrival of 3,773 bags, 1,670 were sold.
