The price of turmeric has been increased on Wednesday. “In connection with local Mariamman festival, all the turmeric markets will be closed for nine days from Saturday the 30th March to April 7th. So the buyer traders have purchased all the good quality turmeric for their demand and some traders have decided to store few bags of best quality turmeric. The turmeric farmers also brought good number of bags and 55 per cent of the arrived turmeric was sold”, said RKV Ravishankar, Erode Turmeric Merchants Assocaition. Regarding the price some bags of the finger turmeric was increased by ₹200 a quintal and root variety by ₹500 a quintal when compared previous day market price at Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard. The root variety was increased at the Regulated marketing Committee by just ₹50 a quintal.
