A volume of 11.16 lakh kg has been catalogued for Sale No: 7 of the Coonoor Tea Trade Association concluding on Friday. This is as much as 1.55 lakh kg less than the offer for last week’s auctions. It is among the lowest volumes of the past many weeks.
Of the 11.16 lakh kg offered, as much as 10.22 lakh kg belongs to the CTC variety and only 94,000 kg to the orthodox variety. The proportion of orthodox teas remains low in both leaf and dust grades.
In the leaf counter, only 62,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 5.78 lakh kg is CTC. Among the dusts, only 32,000 kg is orthodox while 4.44 lakh kg is CTC. In all, 6.40 lakh kg belongs to Leaf grades and 4.76 lakh kg to Dust grades.
