A volume of 12.86 lakh kg has been catalogued for Sale No: 11 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association auction to be held on Thursday and Friday. This is some 46,000 kg more than last week’s offer. Of this, 8.76 lakh kg belongs to leaf grades and 4.10 lakh kg, dust grade. As much as 11.89 lakh kg belongs to CTC variety and only 97,000 kg, orthodox variety.
Darmona Estate’s Super Red Dust, auctioned by Paramount Tea Marketing, topped the Dust tea auctions last week fetching ₹181. Homedale Estate’s Broken Pekoe, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the leaf and the entire CTC market at ₹195/kg.
