Zinc shed 0.34 per cent to Rs 103.65 per kg at the futures trading today as speculators indulged in squaring-up their positions in the face of monthly expiry.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in March declined by 35 paise or 0.34 per cent to Rs 103.65 per kg with a business volume of 629 lots. Similarly, the metal for delivery in April also shed 25 paise or 0.24 per cent to Rs 104.95 per kg in a turnover of 249 lots.
Traders said squaring-up of pending positions by speculators in view of monthly expiry along with subdued demand for the metal at the spot market led to the fall in futures prices.
