Gold prices declined by 0.97 per cent to Rs 25,934 per 10 grams in the futures trade On Wednesday as speculators reduced their positions in tandem with a weak trend in global markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in October month declined by Rs 253, or 0.97 per cent to Rs 25,934 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 6,103 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in December contract lost Rs 256, or 0.97 per cent to Rs 26,185 per 10 grams in 1,219 lots.

Market analysts said off loading of positions by speculators in tandem with a weakening global trend mainly led to the fall in gold futures prices.

Meanwhile, gold dropped by 1.1 per cent to $ 1,632.05 an ounce in Singapore in early trade today.
