Gold prices rose Rs 174 to Rs 26,370 per 10 grams at the futures trade today as speculators widened positions amid a firm trend overseas.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in far-month October rose Rs 174 or 0.66 per cent to Rs 26,370 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 810 lots.
Similarly, the yellow metal for delivery in far-month December traded higher by Rs 172 or 0.65 per cent to Rs 26.577 per 10 grams in 36 lots.
Marketmen said a firm trend in the global markets, where gold advanced the most in three months as prospects dimmed for a US interest rate increase in September, boosting the metal’s allure, influenced gold futures here.
Globally, the yellow metal traded higher at $1,134.20 an ounce in Singapore today after surging 1.5 per cent to $1,133.88 yesterday, its biggest increase since May 13.
