Amid profit-booking by speculators and weak global cues, silver prices dropped today by Rs 198 to Rs 40,143 per kg at the futures trade.
Silver for delivery in December was trading lower by Rs 198 or 0.41 per cent at Rs 40,143 per kg in a business turnover of 961 lots at the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX). Also, the white metal for delivery in March next year fell Rs 198 or 0.48 per cent at Rs 40,690 per kg with a business turnover of 24 lots.
Silver traded 0.20 per cent lower at $17.17 an ounce in Singapore. Market analysts said the fall in silver prices at the futures trade was mostly attributed to profit-booking by speculators at prevailing levels and weak global cues.
