Silver prices went up by Rs 482 to Rs 42,347 per kg at the futures trade today as participants widened their positions, tracking a firm trend in global market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in December was trading notably higher by Rs 482 or 1.15 per cent at Rs 42,347 per kg in a business turnover of 615 lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in March 2017 was up by Rs 442 or 1.04 per cent at Rs 43,141 per kg in 12 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in silver prices at the futures trade to expanding of positions by speculators, tracking a firm trend in precious metals overseas.

Globally, silver rose 1.17 per cent to $17.73 an ounce in Singapore today.
