Hindustan Unilever replaced Coal India Ltd as the lone gainer on both the BSE and NSE in late trading on Tuesday. At 3 pm the share held gains of 2.25 per cent at Rs 777.90 on the BSE. It had ended the overnight session at Rs 760.75.
On the NSE it held gains of 1.83 per cent at Rs 774.20 as against Rs 760.30 at close on Monday.
The market was drenched in red today as the Sensex lost over 800 points by late session and the Nifty was down 250 points. The sell-off was triggered by weak global cues and a rout in the global markets on sliding oil prices and a political crisis in Greece.
