The Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT) has set up a Centre for Information Assurance and Management (CIAM) in association with the State University of New York at Buffalo.

The centre was formally launched by RBI Governor D. Subbarao at the annual technology awards presentation ceremony organised by the institute here on Friday.

The CIAM would function as a “one-stop” resource centre for all information assurance and management technology, tools, literature and experts for the Indian banking and financial sector, Sambamurthy, Director, IDRBT, said. It would carry out research and development in the areas of information security, information assurance and management, cyber forensics and related areas and provide thought leadership and mentoring to the banking, financial services and insurance sectors. As part of the IDRBT Banking Technology Excellence Awards for 2012-13, fifteen awards were presented to the winners in various categories. They included SBI (Best Bank Award for Use of Technology for Financial Inclusion and electronics payment systems), HDFC Bank (for Mobile Banking among large banks) and ICICI Bank (for Use of IT for Business Innovation among large banks).
