The rupee plunged to a record low of 56.50 to the dollar in its opening trade today on global worries with deepened Euro zone crisis.
At 11.38 am, the rupee was trading at 56.39 against the dollar.
The local currency breached the psychological level of 56 on Wednesday for the second time after last week. It closed at 56.24 in yesterday’s trade.
