The rupee opened 6 paise lower against the dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market on Friday, as the American currency strengthened against other major currencies.
The domestic unit was trading at Rs 45.30 a dollar, 6 paise down from yesterday’s close. On Thursday, it closed 11 paise down at Rs 45.24/25 a dollar.
Dealers said that the dollar’s gains against major currencies overseas and lower opening in the stock market weighed on the rupee sentiment.
