State Bank of India has adopted Chikkotnekal village, in Manvi Taluk of Raichuras, as part of its village adoption scheme. Ashwini Mehra, Deputy Managing Director, said the bank plans to take up activities such as soil reclamation, adoption of new varieties, adoption of new cultivation practices and dairy development. The bank also plans to start programmes to enable farmers to understand BT cotton and its cultivation practices. SBI will also be having a “Customer Service Point” at this village to facilitate banking transactions.
