The Government has selected eight executive directors for being elevated as chairmen and managing directors of public sector banks. This selection comes months before the incumbent CMDs are to retire.
The EDs who will be elevated as CMDs are: Mr BA Prabhakar (ED, Bank of India) will move to Andhra Bank; Mr M.V. Tanksale (ED, Punjab National Bank) will go to Central Bank of India; Mr M.G. Sanghvi (ED, Bank of Maharashtra) will move to Syndicate Bank; Ms Nupur Mitra (ED, Indian Over Bank) will move to Dena Bank; Mr Ajay Kumar (ED, UCO Bank) will move to Corporation Bank; Mr Narendra Singh (ED, Corporation Bank) will move to Bank of Maharashtra, Mr S.L. Bansal (ED, United Bank of India) will go to Oriental Bank of Commerce, and Mr D. Sarkar (ED, Allahabad) will move to Union Bank of India.
Totally, 17 ED of various banks were interviewed for the eight vacancies.
