HDFC sole Indian firm among world's most ethical companies

Housing finance major HDFC is the only Indian company to be included in a New York City think-tank's fifth annual list of the World's Most Ethical Companies, said a release issued by the company.

The Ethisphere Institute's list, which includes 110 organisations, is published in its quarterly publication, Ethisphere Magazine. These awards were instituted in 2007. Nearly 3,000 companies in more than 100 countries and 36 industries were nominated, or nominated themselves, to be considered this year.

Ethisphere is an international think-tank dedicated to the creation, advancement and sharing of best practices in business ethics, corporate social responsibility, anti-corruption and sustainability.

The Institute's associated membership groups, the Ethisphere Council and Business Ethics Leadership Alliance, are forums for business ethics that include over 200 leading corporations, universities and institutions.
