Low-cost deposits and retail credit will continue to be the focus areas of Karnataka Bank Ltd for 2015-16, according to P Jayarama Bhat, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the bank.

Addressing the regional heads of the bank during the fourth quarter business review conference in Mangaluru on Tuesday, he said that garnering of low-cost deposits, augmentation of retail credit with an eye on asset quality, and reduction of non-performing assets (NPAs) through effective credit monitoring and improved house-keeping shall continue to be the focus areas during the current year.

He said that the two new regional offices at Udupi and Tumakuru and the new credit monitoring cell at the Head Office would help the bank in this direction.

The bank has set up a new IT BuS Cell (IT-enabled Business Solution Cell) for conceiving and implementing new technology-based banking business ideas.

“All these initiatives coupled with consistent performance by all the regions will definitely help bank in achieving all the business goals of current year,” he said.

A press release by the bank said here that Mahabaleshwara MS, Chief General Manager of the bank, highlighted the business growth and corporate targets. He urged the regional heads to display an efficient and strong performance in all areas during the current year.
