The State Bank of Hyderabad (SBH) is selling gold coins at all its branches in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam towns, according to Mr D. Srinivasa Rao, Assistant General Manager.
He said at a press meet here on Thursday that the coins would be available in 2 grams, 8 grams and 10 grams denominations and would have 999.9 per cent purity.
He urged the public to make use of the opportunity on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya on Friday.
He said SBH would open five more branches in the districts of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam. Currently, there were 70 branches in the Visakhapatnam region, comprising the north-coastal districts of Visakhapatnam , Vizianagaram and Srikakulam besides Orissa. In Orissa, the bank has ten branches. Deposits in the region amounted to Rs 2,904 croreand the advances Rs 1,085 crore, he said.
The net profit was Rs 57 crore as on March 31.
