Congress President Rahul Gandhi said on Thursday there will be Congress governments in Karnataka this year and at the Centre in 2019.

Addressing an election rally at Bhatkal in Uttara Kannada district late in the evening, he said Karnataka will bring back the Congress government.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi talks about corruption while standing next to people who have been imprisoned on corruption charges, he said, adding that the BJP has given ticket to eight people who are facing graft charges.

Earlier, addressing a gathering in Ankola, he said the Karnataka election is a fight between ideologies. The Congress wants farmers, labourers and common people to get the benefits of the government programmes. However, BJP wants the benefits to reach 10-15 industrialists, he added.

Rahul further said Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah thinks about common people. Asking the crowd if they got ₹15 lakh each promised by Modi in 2014, he said the money the common man had saved was snatched away in the guise of the note ban.

Manifesto tomorrow

Meanwhile, M Veerappa Moily, chairman of the Congress manifesto drafting committee, said Rahul will release the Karnataka election manifesto here on Friday.

He said at a media briefing the manifesto comes in three parts — for the entire State, for the four revenue divisions, and for each of the 30 districts
