Identifying severe shortage of manpower in gaming, animation and special effects industry, Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNAFAU) is in the process of signing agreements with leading animation, gaming, film and special effects training institutes.

It signed an agreement with Digiquest Academy, promoted Digiquest India, on Wednesday to offer bachelor of Fine Arts in three streams of Animation and VFX (special effects), Digital Media and Animation and Gaming. Each of the streams will have 40 seats.

People who have passed out of Intermediate (or equivalent) are eligible to take the entrance test. “Students will get a government degree, while receiving technical training with us,” K. Basi Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director of Digiquest, told Business Line .

The University renewed a memorandum of understanding with Annapoorna International School of Film and Media (AISFM) on Thursday. Akkineni Nagarjuna, film actor and President of AISFM and P. Padmavathi, in-charge Vice-Chancellor of JNAFAU, signed the agreement.

The institute will offer four-year undergraduate and two-year postgraduate degrees in advertising and digital marketing; journalism and public relations; graphic and multimedia design; and photography and digital imaging.

“We have teams to inspect the institutes with which we sign an agreement. We will get 10 per cent of revenues. More than revenues, we see value in such agreements as they address the challenge of shortage of manpower,” she said.

The university has also lined up similar pacts with Rama Naidu Film School, promoted by veteran film producer D Rama Naidu, and HAMSTECH.
