The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) along with the Government of Andhra Pradesh is setting up a national start-up centre at Amaravati, the new capital, and also a multi-skill development centre at Vuyyuru in Krishna district, according to R V S Rudraraju, Chairman of CII, Andhra Pradesh.

He was speaking to the media here on Friday on the priorities and focus areas of CII, AP, for the current year. He said competitiveness, inclusiveness and sustainability would be critical for the development of the State in the aftermath of bifurcation.

He said: "MSMEs would play a crucial role in job creation and it would be our endeavour to help them as much as possible. We will work along with the State Government in creating the right urban, industrial environment for units to be set in the State."

He said the partnership summits held by the State Government here had helped in promoting the visibility and brand value of the State and the follow-up action was also critical. "There is no need to be skeptical. Some major units as Kia Motors have arrived in the State. There are some constraints such as availability of land, especially for the smaller units, but we are working with the State Government to address the issues," he said.

He said CII, AP, was also focusing on promoting the entrepreneurial spirit among women.

G Vijay Naidu, Vice-Chairman of CII-AP, G Murali Krishna, Chairman of CII, Visakhapatnam, and K V V Raju, Vice-Chairman of CII, Visakhapantam, also spoke.
