India reported less than 20,000 Covid cases on Sunday at 19,968 with 673 deaths in the last 24 hours till 8:00 am, as per the Health Ministry data. On Saturday, the daily infections were at 22,270 with 325 deaths. This is the fourteenth straight day, when the daily Covid infections have been less than one lakh cases. In Delhi, the daily infections were at 570 with four deaths on Sunday evening. The daily cases in the capital have fallen from the previous day’s cases of 635 with the positivity rate of 1.04 per cent. In Maharashtra, the infections stood at 1,437 with six casualties. In Mumbai, the cases were at 167 with no fatality in the last 24 hours.
The cumulative death toll in India due to the Covid pandemic is more than 5.11 lakh with 673 fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours till 8:00 am. The daily Covid deaths were at 325 in the previous day. The single-day increase in the death numbers is due to Kerala’s reconciliation of its daily fatalities.
Positivity rate
Overall, the daily positivity rate in India was 1.68 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate stood at 2.27 per cent. So far, a total of 75.93 crore tests have been conducted in the country with 11.87 lakh done in the previous day.
So far, India has administered more than 175 crore vaccine doses with 30.81 lakh jabs given in the last 24 hours till 8:00 am, as per the Health Ministry data.
