Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal continues to remain silent over corruption charges levelled against him even as his wife Sunita publicly cursed his Cabinet colleague Kapil Mishra for tarnishing her husband’s image. This is after the protesting Mishra’s mother made headlines by writing an open letter to Kejriwal asking him not to “lie and be afraid of God”.

Besides wives and mothers crossing swords, the antics of Aam Aadmi Party’s MLAs and leaders are damaging the party’s image on a daily basis. The latest instance of the AAP resembling a bunch of amateurs is a “sting” on its MLA Ritu Raj, who is heard using obscene language against a former councillor from his area, who secretly taped him.

Tere pe bharosa kiya tha mene. Agla chunav lad liyo *** (I’ll show you, I trusted you. I challenge you to fight the next election),” Ritu Raj is heard telling the former councillor, Pushp Raj, who has since released the audio tapes to local news networks. As the tape was circulated, former AAP leader and eminent civil rights lawyer Prashant Bhushan tweeted: “Listen to the vile, gutter language and threats extended by AAP MLA Ritu Raj to the person who stung him. Another AK ka heera (another gem from Arvind Kejriwal).”

As banners and hoardings came up across Delhi demanding clarifications from Kejriwal on a host of corruption allegations, Kejriwal’s wife Sunita took to twitter against her husband’s current bête noire. “Law of nature never errs. Seeds of betrayal, false allegations sown. So shall Kapil Mishra reap. Inevitable,” said the Delhi CM’s wife on twitter.

Mishra, who ended his six-day-long hunger strike later on Monday, was prompt with his response. “Sunita Kejriwal is a loyal wife. She has no idea of the kind of conspiracies that are hatched in her own home. She is performing her duty. She does not know the truth about her husband. She is disturbed about the downfall of her husband,” said Mishra. And then inexplicably added, “Arvind Kejriwal return Sunita’s phone to her.”

This is after Mishra’s mother Annapurna Devi, a local BJP leader, wrote an open letter to Kejriwal asking him to answer questions raised by her son.

Mishra has filed complaints with the CBI and the Anti Corruption Bureau alleging that he saw Kejriwal taking a bribe of ₹2 crore from his colleague Satyendra Jain. He also alleged the Delhi CM delayed the probe into the ₹400-crore water-tanker scam and that his relatives were striking shady land deals in Delhi.

‘Guru-Shishya’

Yogendra Yadav, another former colleague of Kejriwal and AAP member, quipped Mishra and Kejriwal are cut from the same cloth. “Kejriwal-Kapil is a model of Guru-Shishya parampara! Today it seemed Kapil Mishra is outdoing his Guru,” said Yadav. According to Yadav, Mishra’s charges against Kejriwal needed an investigation. “Kapil repeats old but serious charges. Needs probe. But why is there no action against BJP and Congress on foreign funds,” Yadav tweeted.
