The government will rate non-governmental organisations (NGOs) working on environmental issues based on their performance. Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar said the new performance-based rating would encourage NGOs doing good work. Releasing the 10th edition of the directory of “Environmental NGOs in India - 2015” on Tuesday, Javadekar said that NGOs created local resources, worked for the people and were a bridge between the government and the people. The Minister said there was a need to add new features in the next edition, according to an official release.
