Indian Green Building Council of Confederation of Indian Industry has launched a rating system to address sustainability aspects in existing buildings.
The rating programme was launched during the conference on Green Cities and Townships held in Mumbai on Thursday.
This rating tool facilitates building owners and facility managers in implementing green building strategies, measure their impacts and sustain the performance in the long run.
About 3.6 million sq.ft of the existing projects have expressed their interest to participate in the pilot rating programme.
C Shekar Reddy, President, Confederation of Real Estate Developers Associations of India (Credai), in a statement said, “Credai is committed to the Green building initiatives. Many of its members are closely working with the council in constructing Green buildings.”
Over 30 pilot townships across India are going green with the CII Council’s Green Township Rating programme.
