The Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India (Credai) will set up an institute for real estate research and professional studies in Ahmedabad.

The institute aims to impart world class education in real estate related subjects. It will tie-up with top international institutes in the real estate domain.

The facility is expected to be functional in 2014.

Lalit Kumar Jain, National President, Credai, said Jaxay Shah, Vice-President, has donated the land for establishing the facility.

Kumar Urban development, headed by Jain, has committed Rs 1 crore for the building. Several leading developers have also expressed their support to the cause of education, Jain said.

Scholarship scheme

Credai also said it has launched an educational scholarship scheme to promote higher education. It will offer scholarships to students who pursue full-time degree/post-graduate degree courses in Civil Engineering or Management related to real estate, at colleges or institutes recognised by the All India Council of Technical Education.

“Real estate is the largest employer after agriculture. Hence, Credai has taken the initiative to enhance skill sets and promote talent,” Jain said.

The scheme will primarily target the under privileged, but academically bright students, and help them complete their education.

Credai will give seed capital or initial contribution for obtaining educational loans from banks.
