The 10-day long Ganesh Chaturthi festival is celebrated with zeal and fervour across tMaharashtra. The festival celebrates the birthday of Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed Hindu God. Begins with the installation of huge elaborately crafted statutes of Ganesha in homes and podiums, which have been especially constructed and beautifully decorated. Artisans put in months of effort into making these statues.
The Hindu Business Line photographer Paul Naronha captures the spirit of the celebrations in Mumbai in this slideshow.
