When Twitter unleashed Vine in the App Store, Android fanboys went into sulking mode. Most of them are yet to recover from the fact that there is still no Vine for them.

Many of them don’t realise that there are apps that do the same thing as Vine, and even more, and have been around for quite some time in the Google Play Store. The only difference is that they are not from Twitter.

First, not many know about Vine either. At least seven out of ten people who own an Apple iPhone had not heard of Vine. Not they were not social media savvy. They were regular users of Instagram and two of them felt offended when Instagram came to Android.

Vine is a video sharing app from Twitter. You shoot short videos and instantly share them on Twitter. As I said, the app is not yet available for Android. There are apps like Klip, Socialcam, Keek and Viddy that allow you to do the same. They allow you to post to Twitter and Facebook, and that’s what you want. Some even allow to post the clips to YouTube and Tumblr, tag friends in the clip or email the clip.

Android fanboys also have another grudge. iOS users also have YouTube Capture that allows you to capture and post clips directly to YouTube. Android fanboys have reason to be cross, because the YouTube Capture app is from Google - the makers of Android!

Anyway, till Twitter’s Vine and Google’s YouTube Capture come to Android, you can get going with the other apps.
