For decades Amar Chitra Katha comics have been telling tales from legends, mythology and history with attractive illustrations and lucid text. Now, they are ready to take a new avatar to keep up with the times.

With over 450 titles to its credit in various Indian languages and millions of copies sold, the ACK brand is eyeing the millennials.

Focus on narratives

“Here comes Amar Chitra Katha 2.0 ,” says actor-entrepreneur Rana Daggubati. The brand has come out with ACK Alive, a new format that offers a wide variety of activities, all around ACK tales.

The actor, who bought 26 per cent in the brand that is now backed by Future group Chief Executive Officer Kishore Biyani, says it is time to build courses around the characters from mythology and history.

The first learning centre, which opened here, will have artists and experts organise fun-filled science events including Vedic sciences. It also houses a studio to produce digital content around ACK’s offerings. “

The Hyderabad centre is the first in the series that we propose to establish across the country, said Kishore Biyani. The ACK Alive centre will prepare tailor-made programmes for children and adults, alike. The courses will be offered on a regular basis, over the weekends and in the summer.

“The West has created a set of heroes and narratives to catch the imagination of its children. We need to create our own and we think Amar Chitra Katha is the perfect platform to do that,” said Rana Daggubati. He said ACK Alive is an extension of the vision of Uncle Pai, founder of Amar Chitra Katha. ACK is also coming out with four YouTube channels to offer free educational and entertainment content for children, said Anuraag Agarwal, Chief Executive Officer of Amar Chitra Katha.
