A team of Indian-origin professionals have launched the first-of-its-kind interactive online video series exploring management values through the prism of Indian mythology.

London-based storyteller Seema Anand and management consultant Smita Tharoor have devised ‘Myth, Management and Me’ as a free YouTube series using stories from the ’Mahabharata’, ‘Artha Shastra’ and Hitupdesh, among other texts.

“I feel very strongly about the unconscious bias, how our own personal stories define and influence us in every aspect of what we do,” said Tharoor, who heads Tharoor Associates, which conducts workplace training across India and the UK.

“Being clear about who you are and what you want allows you to be yourself and will help you get what you want. Otherwise, you will never get beyond obstacles that are most often created by you,” Tharoor said.

The new series is open to anyone who wishes to participate and provides several portals for communication including Facebook and YouTube. People from around the world are invited to directly share their ideas with the team.

“I use stories to overcome the obstacles to learning,” said Anand, who is the storyteller of the series launched last month.

The series is being coordinated by creative head Bineeta Mitra and Shozeb Haider, a cancer research scientist at University College London.

Anand and Tharoor are known internationally for their work in the field of storytelling and management. They specialise in the reinterpretation and retelling of old mythologies.
