Total Dental Care Pvt Ltd, which runs a chain of dental clinics under the MyDentist brand, has raised ₹50 crore in Series C funding, from LGT Venture Philanthropy and existing investors Seedfund and Asian Healthcare Fund. Total Dental Care has more 100 clinics and above 500 doctors. It will use the money to expand to more cities.

Angels smile on BabyChakra

BabyChakra, a portal for young parents, has raised a round of undisclosed angel funding from Mumbai Angels, Patni Family Office and Singapore Angel Network. The money will be used to grow use of the portal, hire top industry professionals and launch BabyChakra’s android mobile app. Its services are available in Mumbai, Bengaluru and New Delhi.

Matrix leads $5-m investment

Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal, co-founders of Snapdeal; Phanindra Sama, co-founder, redBus; and, Raju Reddy, founder, Sierra Atlantic, participated in the first round of $5 million institutional funding led by Matrix Partners India in Belong, which helps companies hire staff. Belong will use the money to accelerate its growth.

Treebo gets $6 m from Matrix, SAIF

Matrix Partners India and SAIF Partners have co-led a $6-million first institutional round of funding in Treebo Hotels, a tech-enabled chain of hotels. Treebo will use the money to expand its network of hotels, improve technology and hiring top talent.

Unitus invests in iSTAR

Unitus Seed Fund has invested more money in its portfolio company iSTAR Skill Development Pvt Ltd. iSTAR is a skills training company that trains undergraduate students to make them employable. iSTAR raised its first round in April 2013 from Unitus when it was present in 15 colleges serving 1,500 students with 12 trainers, in Karnataka. It has expanded to 150 colleges in three States and 17 districts with more than 150 trainers for 17,000 students
