Roadrunnr, a B2B online platform and service provider for hyper-local logistics, has raised $11 million in Series A funding from Sequoia Capital, Nexus Venture Partners and Blume Ventures. The company will use the money to enhance its technology platform, expand nationally and build a strong delivery network. It had raised seed funding from Blume Ventures and Nexus Venture Partners.

Founded by Mohit Kumar and Aprit Dave, who worked together at Flipkart, Ola and Amazon, the Bengaluru-based Roadrunnr aims to provide merchants in India the capability to deliver orders rapidly and on-demand to customers in their locality by connecting them with a supply force using mobile technology. It caters to merchants, restaurants and e-commerce companies, managing their deliveries. It has grown to have the largest fleet for on-demand services in Bengaluru and recently started operations in Delhi-NCR. The company plans to take this model across the country and develop the largest fleet of on-demand hyper-local delivery carriers. It is piloting its services in Mumbai.

Roadrunnr partners with students, drivers and others who work with it on a part-time basis. Its pricing model differs from other aggregators in that it charges merchants a flat fee based on their shipment size rather than the value of the order.

According to Mohit Kumar, co-founder & CEO, Roadrunnr, the venture’s services are asset light, involving no hubs or warehouses that allow a flexible model for both merchants and drivers. It has reached 1,500 orders a day.
