Uddhab Bharali's innovations have gained him recognition both within the country and abroad. The Central Silk Board sought his guidance to redesign a sophisticated reeling machine.
Among his numerous innovations are the remi-recortication machine, garlic-peeling machine, tobacco-leaf cutter, paddy thresher, cane-stripping machine, brass utensil polishing machine, safed musli -peeling machine, jatropha de-seeder, mechanised weeding machine, passion fruit juice extractor, trench digger and a chopper for cattle and fisheries feed. He also designed a stevia pulveriser and passion fruit gel extractor for the North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Project (NERCRMP).
Pomegranate de-seeder: It separates the outer cover and thin inner membrane without damaging the seeds. It can handle 50-55 kg of pomegranates per hour. The machine has been exported to Turkey and the US.
Areca nut peeler: This machine was developed to help avoid injuries caused while peeling areca nuts manually; it can peel 100-120 nuts per minute.
Cassava peeler: This portable electric machine can process up to five kg of cassava per minute. NIF facilitated the technology licensing on non-exclusive basis to a Guwahati-based entrepreneur. One unit was bought by a customer in Kenya.
