Vijay’s latest release Master will have its digital premiere on Amazon Prime Video on January 29.

Amazon Prime Video on Wednesday announced that the exclusive digital premiere of the eagerly awaited Master will happen on January 29 and Prime members in India and across 240 countries and territories can stream the exclusive digital premiere of Tamil action thriller.

The development comes within 17 days of the movies’ pan-India theatrical release on January 13. Master, which was released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, saw the biggest theatrical release post-lockdown. Movie exhibitors across the country pinned their hope on this movie to pull the audience back to theatres in a big way.

The OTT premiere of the movie comes at a time when the movie is still running in a large number of theatres across the country.

“We are delighted to announce the digital premiere of Master on Amazon Prime Video,” said Vijay Subramaniam, Director and Head, Content, Amazon Prime Video, India was quoted in a press release.

“Master is one of the most anticipated Tamil movies of the year and we are glad to have the opportunity to bring the movie to Prime members in India and across 240 countries and territories this month,” he added.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the Tamil action thriller also has an ensemble of stars including Vijay Sethupathi, Malavika Mohanan, Andrea Jeremiah, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Arjun Das in pivotal roles.

“Master film has brought two very strong actors face to face in the film, that serves as a great entertainment hook for people to come and watch the film in theatres,” the release quoted director Kanagaraj as saying.

“However, with the film’s global digital release on Amazon Prime Video, we are hoping to reach a wider audience that’s been at home, and reach regions that otherwise wouldn’t have been possible,” he added.
