A global meet on allergic diseases will be held in Hyderabad during December 6-9. Experts and healthcare professionals treating patients with asthma and allergic diseases numbering over 1,500 are expected to take part.

For the first time in the country, the World Allergy Organisation will be hosting this international scientific conference. Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad will inaugurate the meet and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy will preside.

According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 300 million individuals have asthma worldwide, a figure that could increase to 400 million by 2025 if trends continue.

Allergic diseases like other non-communicable diseases are escalating and up to 30-40 per cent of the world’s population is now affected by some form of allergy.

Supported by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the scientific programme will span various specialties. It will also have special sessions on ‘Highlights in Immunotherapy’, a General Practitioner Program, and a Patient and Public Forum, all delivered by a faculty of 90 internationally known experts.
