The Dharwad-headquartered Karnataka Vikas Grameen Bank (KVGB) has launched ‘ATM-on-wheels’ service (a van with ATM) for its customers.
Launching the service in Dharwad on Tuesday, Ashok Reddy, Chairman of KVGB, said that ‘ATM-on-wheels’ is a part of bank’s financial inclusion plan to provide banking services in remote villages of northern Karnataka.
Claiming it as a first-of-its-kind initiative by any bank in the region, Reddy said this is a step to expand the bank’s reach in un-banked villages.
One official of the bank and a driver will manage the mobile ATM. Reddy said that National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has given financial assistance for the facility. The bank is also planning to send one medical officer along with the van for providing emergency medical services in the villages, he said.
