The Supreme Court has permitted Birla Corporation to carry out limestone mining operations for four weeks from March 18 at Chanderia in Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan, the company informed the stock exchanges.
The Apex Court in its interim order on March 8 said mining activities could be undertaken by mechanical means but without blasting from March 18 to April 14 beyond one km of Chittorgarh Fort wall.
Such mining activity would be carried out to enable the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkie, to study the cumulative impact of the entire mining activities on Chittorgarh Fort and to submit a report to the Supreme Court.
The order came after CBRI submitted an interim report.
