CARE Hospitals expands to Chhattisgarh

CARE Hospitals Group has signed agreements with KIMS Hospital, Bilaspur, and RIMS (Raigarh Institute of Medical Sciences), Raigarh, to manage both these facilities as part of its network on an operations and management contract.

For the Hyderabad-based CARE these additions will take the Group to 15 hospitals across South and Central India with a total capacity of over 2,000 beds.

KIMS, Bilaspur, is a multi-specialty hospital of 200 beds capacity, while RIMS, Raigarh, is a 150-bed multi-specialty hospital. With these facilities, CARE would now have four hospitals in Chhattisgarh and would be the largest network in the State.

CARE Hospitals has entered into both O&M agreements through its subsidiary Ramkrishna CARE based in Raipur, a company press release here said.

While O&M agreements have been prevalent in the healthcare industry for some time, the outcomes are mixed. “The O&M model has the advantage of faster capacity ramp-up and quicker expansion of footprint," commented Dilip Jose, Group CEO of CARE Hospitals.

In this particular case, the Bilaspur and Raigarh hospitals would leverage the infrastructure and clinical talent of the hub facility of Ramkrishna CARE at Raipur and expand its reach to larger geographies, Jose added.

The Bilaspur hospital is scheduled to be launched today at a function presided over by Raman Singh, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh. The Raigarh facility would begin operations in July, said Sandeep Dave, medical Director, Ramkrishna CARE.
