Fiat Group Automobiles India has drawn up aggressive marketing plans to gain market share in the passenger car segment in India, President and Managing Director of Fiat Chrysler India, Nagesh Basavanhalli said today.

Launching the ‘Absolute’ versions of Fiat Linea and Punto models, Basavanhalli said: “We want to recoup lost ground for which the company has decided to focus on dealer network, product launches and brand building.”

The company, which is a subsidiary of Fiat Group Automobiles of Italy, plans to set up 100 dealer sales points across the country by March 2014, out of which seven would be located in the northeast.

The company also plans to launch nine models, both refreshed and new within 2016, he said.

Fiat, which parted sales and marketing tie-up with Tata Motors from April this year, continues to share the production facility with the Tata company.

Its average sales per month stands at 1,000 units, Basavanhalli said.
