Mahindra 2 Wheelers, a part of the $15.9-billion Mahindra Group, has marked its entry into the motorcycle segment with the unveiling of two 110cc bikes.

The completely in-house designed bikes — Centuro and Pantero — run on Micro Chip Ignited 5-Curve (MCi-5) engines are manufactured at its Pithampur plant near Indore.

“The Pantero should be out in the next couple of weeks, and Centuro a few weeks thereafter,” said Anoop Mathur, President-Two Wheeler Sector and Member of the Group Executive Board, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

However, the company did not reveal the prices of the bikes.

“Our pricing strategy is all obvious from value propositions, and it does take competition into account. We will make sure that the proposition the customer gets will be appropriate to the value that we are providing to the customer,” he said.

“Our pricing will neither be a deterrent nor a show-stopper…” Mathur added.

The Centuro has features including anti-theft system with engine immobiliser and a remote 128 bit encrypted flip key. Guide lamps that continue to be lit as the rider walks away after parking the vehicle, LED tail and pilot lamps are other features.

The 110cc Pantero, targeted at young first time buyers, has features such as LED pilot and tail lamps, digital dashboard and a 13.7-litre fuel tank among others. It gives a mileage of 79.5 kmpl (ARAI certified).

Mahindra 2 Wheelers, which manufactures scooters and motorcycles, was founded in 2008 when Mahindra & Mahindra acquired the business assets of Kinetic Motor Company.
