Police on Thursday took a constable who is on deputation with the excise department in connection with the attack and kidnap attempt on Aurobindo Pharma Ltd’s Vice-Chairman K Nityananda Reddy.
According to police, Obulesu, a constable attacked Reddy with an AK-47 rifle on Wednesday morning when the latter went to the KBR Park in Jubilee Hills here for his morning walk. In the scuffle that followed, eight bullets were fired. Reddy escaped unhurt.
Obulesu was taken into custody in Anantapuram and it is suspected that some more people were involved. Other aspects including how the accused had obtained the stolen rifle of the Greyhounds were also being investigated, police said.
