After the commissioning of its 143MW solar farm at Dichpally in Nizamabad district of Telangana, ReNew Power Ventures plans to increase its renewable energy capacity in the State to 510 MW.

The independent power producer’s (IPP) installed capacity in Telangana now stands at 345 MW. ReNew’s total investments in the State top ₹3,700 crore.

“Over the next few months, we will reach an installed capacity of 510 MW in Telangana and our total investment will cross ₹3,700 crore. With more than 20 per cent share of the solar energy industry, we are one of the largest players in the State,” said Sumant Sinha, Chairman and CEO of ReNew Power.

“The Dichpally solar farm is the largest solar plant in Telangana and the first one to use tracker technology at such a large scale. This increases the power generation by 15-20 per cent. It was commissioned in a record time of 15 months, 3 months ahead of schedule,” said ReNew Power’s Chief Operating Officer Parag Sharma.

During the construction phase, the solar farm employed more than 1,500 people and after commissioning, it will provide direct employment to 350 people.

ReNew Power is one of the largest renewable energy companies in India with an installed power generation capacity of more than 2 GW. It has over 3,000 MW of commissioned and under-construction clean energy capacity across 11 States.

After inaugurating the plant on Saturday in the presence of panchayat functionaries, vendor partners and employees of the company, Telangana Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy said: “The Telangana Government is committed to providing quality power to the industry and the people of the State. This solar plant, which has been commissioned ahead of schedule, will help us meet our peak power requirement this season.”
