Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan will formally launch The Raviz, a five-star hotel property with seven star facilities standing on the banks of the Ashtamudi lake in suburban Kollam on August 19.

The Chief Minister, Mr Oommen Chandy, will inaugurate a function to be held in this connection, according to Mr B. Ravi Pillai, a leading non-resident entrepreneur and Chairman and Managing Director, and Mr Jay Chandran, Vice-President, The Raviz.

Ministers, Mr P. K. Kunhalikutty, Mr A. P. Anil Kumar and Mr Shibu Baby John, will speak on the occasion. Film stars Mukesh and Mamata Mohandas will anchor the programme.

Leading Malayalam actor Mohan Lal will release the logo of the hotel at the function.

The Union Minister for Tourism, Mr Subodh Kant Sahay, will dedicate the hotel property to the public and the Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs, Mr Vayalar Ravi, will deliver the keynote address.

The Leader of the Opposition, Mr V. S. Achuthanandan, will inaugurate the convention centre attached to the hotel. The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Kingdom of Bahrain, Mr Hassan Fakhro, will launch a guest house attached to the hotel.

Mr Abdulnabi Al Shoala, Chairman of the Bahrain India Society, will inaugurate the floating restaurant, and the Ambassador of Bahrain to India, Mr Mohamed Ghassan Shaikho, the ‘Erattupetta' heritage villa at the hotel complex.

TRADITIONAL STYLE

Dr Pillai said the investment has been committed with a view to making Kollam a prime tourism destination of the country.

The Raviz sports a blend of colonial and traditional Travancore architecture and has been designed by noted architect Mr Eugene Pandala. It has 90 guest rooms with a view of the lake.

There are also two traditional cottages and two villas with private swimming pools. Dr Pillai said that guests from within in the State would be granted special discounts.

The hotel complex also features an ayurveda spa. Dr Pillai said the convention centre will be promoted as a ‘destination wedding centre.'
