The United Arab Emirates (UAE) based Thumbay group is planning to invest ₹100 crore in setting up multi-specialty hospitals in India.
Announcing the launch of its first flagship hospital in India here on Monday, Akbar Moideen Thumbay, Vice-President, Healthcare division, Thumbay said his group will be opening super specialty hospitals in Mangalore, Bengaluru, Mysore and Mumbai shortly.
The 250-bed Thumbay New Life Hospital here has been set up with in investment of over ₹30 crore by taking over already existing New Life Hospital. Another hospital will be opened in Jubilee Hills — Hitech city zone soon.
The group, which is one of the largest private healthcare providers in the Middle East region, plans to train its health university students in India in its hospital here. “We want to make it a hub for medical tourism and training for medical students,” said Shyam Sundar, Medical Director.
