Arunya Foundation, a charity trust working on farmers’ empowerement, will conduct a two-day agriculture summit in the farm of a progressive farmer in Mangaluru taluk on February 3 and 4.

Addressing press persons in Mangaluru on Thursday, Srinivasa Pejathaya, secretary of the foundation, said the event — Krishi Sangama 2018 — will be organised at Oddoor Farms in Mangaluru taluk on February 3 and 4 to bring together diversified farm professionals under one roof to showcase the best practices of farming. Farmers, farm retailers, government officials, non-governmental organisation and others are expected to participate in this event.

There will be interactive training workshop by scientists and researchers on select topics.

The event will also look at the practical problems of farmers, and establish a platform to facilitate a comprehensive dialogue and raise awareness about innovation. Farmers will be given an opportunity to present their ideas related to innovations in farming, he said.

Shankar Bharadwaj, Vice-President of the foundation, said the event will be held at Oddoor Farms at Ganjimatt village in Mangaluru taluk. Rajesh Naik, progressive farmer, has transformed 120 acres of barren land into an organic farm with multiple crops and dairying.

All the farm related items will be exhibited with live demo at particular crop fields so that farmers can get a complete knowledge of a particular tools and equipment.
