Pact for STARStreak missile

Thales and Bharat Dynamics sign MoU to explore Transfer of Technology opportunity for STARStreak missile to India with the support of the UK government. The MoU was signed in the presence of UK Government representatives. Through this MoU, Thales and BDL seek to jointly offer a “Make in India” solution to help service growing international demand for this product. The STARStreak missile is in service in the UK army and has been procured by the defence forces of a number of countries worldwide.

New weapon from Textron

Textron Systems Weapon & Sensor Systems, a business of Textron Inc, announced the successful testing of G-CLAW, the company’s precision guided glide weapon, against moving targets. The flight tests, which occurred in October 2016, took place in Arizona. Company official said G-CLAW is being offered to Indian government.

Rostec keen on tie-ups

Rostec State Corporation displayed its the latest developments in aircraft technology, air defence and radio-electronic warfare at Aero India. The Russian delegation of 350 people is at the event. Rostecholding companies - Russian Helicopters, Technodinamika, UEC, Tecmash and Shvabewill took part in the 900 square metres Russian exhibition and intend to hold negotiations with strategic partners in the framework of executing current and negotiating new contracts, as well as proposals for new projects under the Make in India programme.

Cargo handling centre at KIA

Air India SATS Airport Services (AISATS), an airport services company, launched ‘AISATS COOLPORT’ – country’s first integrated on-airport perishable cargo handling centre, at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (KIAB). The 11,000-square metre facility built at a total project cost of ₹48 crore, was inaugurated by R V Deshpande, Karnataka Minister for Large & Medium Industries & Infrastructure Development.

Axiscades, Drone Volt sign MoU

Axiscades and Drone Volt announced signing of an MoU at Aero India 2017 to jointly address the growing market for drones in the Indian defence and aerospace sector. Under the MoU, both companies will evaluate opportunities for drones to address the requirements for the aerial surveillance, including disaster management and hazardous site security. Sudhakar Gande, Vice-Chairman of AXISCADES, said: “This partnership with Drone Volt will give us access to established and state-of-the-art Drone Hercules 5 UF required for India's aerospace and defence needs.”

US displays assets its F-16C fighting Falcons

The US is leading a huge delegation of officials to introduce and facilitate its companies to Indian defence and civil aviation market. The delegation comprises of American defence personnel, and significant representation from US industry. At the Aero India, US assets this year include F-16C fighting Falcons, a P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft and a C-130J Super Hercules transport. A Pacific Air Forces F-16 demonstration team will showcase the capability of one of the US Air Force's leading fighters and a combined India-US parachute demonstration is also planned.

Army chief appreciates synergy between army and air force

General Bipin Rawat, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), witnessed the 11th biennial edition of Aero India. COAS visited galleries of government, public and private enterprises. He interacted with number of national and international manufacturing houses. COAS appreciated the synergy among industry, academia and the Indian armed forces.
