Mumbai International Airport has launched India’s first ever indoor navigation app with Augmented Reality feature for the convenience of passengers traveling through Terminal 2.

The app plays a complete navigation guide with user-friendly technology, helping passengers locate anything at the airport with a single click process.

Passengers travelling from any airline just need to select the flight to get constant information through push notification system and the Mumbai T2 App will assist them with their travel.

The app works on a platform developed by Indoor Atlas and iBeacon technologies and provides location-based information using 3G connections or the free Wi-Fi services available at the airport.

Rajeev Jain, Chief Executive Officer, Mumbai International Airport Limited, said, “Mumbai T2 app will allow the passengers to design their own customised experiential tour from their mobile phone. Moreover, we being a ‘silent’ terminal, cutting down on public announcements, the app will be a very handy tool for passengers to keep track of their flight schedule through constant notifications.”

Mumbai T2 app is compatible with Apple and Android phones and tablets. The app is developed by Next Byte Wave Technologies and connects directly to the Flight Information System in the airport to provide updates on flight status and changes in departure time through a simple timely notification starting a day prior to the flight.

The T2 App will be updated in a phase-wise process to include many more features initiating with the international departure, phasing out to cover international arrivals, domestic flights, taxi booking services, also offering a virtual walk-through experience of various sections of the airport including the Jaya He GVK New Museum.
