Parthasarathi Shome, adviser to Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, on Saturday said that the Direct Taxes Code (DTC) Bill might take some time to get consensus from all the Ministries.

According to Shome, different Ministries require certain time to go through the Bill as per the process.

“My understanding is that the Ministries should be given the required time, since it is a very fundamental thing,” Shome told reporters here on the sidelines of a national conference on reforms in tax administration organised by industry body Assocham.

He added that “technically” there is a chance of the Bill being re-introduced during this monsoon session of Parliament.
