State Bank of India (SBI) today appointed its Managing Director S Vishwanathan as the head of its associates and subsidiaries.

Vishwanathan, who was recently promoted as a managing director and was in-charge of mid-corporate group, was earlier the chief executive of the bank’s investment banking arm, SBI Caps.

When contacted, Vishwanathan confirmed the news and added that Deputy Managing Director, Shyamal Acharya will handle the mid-corporate group from now on.

Acharya was earlier officiating as the head of the associates and subsidiaries, which consist of five banks and a life insurance unit, among others.

The five subsidiary banks are State Bank of Travancore, Mysore, Hyderabad, Jaipur & Bikaner and Patiala.
