Mumbai-based errand-running service GetMyPeon, founded in 2012, has renamed itself as Russsh to reflect the swift services it claims to offer its clients, and to boost employee morale.

With services ranging from delivering vada pav from a specific food stall to a client waiting at the airport, to dropping a laptop for repairs, picking up a cheque from a client’s office, paying tuition fees and making midnight deliveries of cakes, flowers and gifts, Russs does them all.

The company has grown from executing 150 tasks a day last June to 250 tasks today, garnering business of ₹18-20 lakh per month.

Russsh launched an Android and iOS app recently that helps clients book a service, track it and pay for it with ease. Speaking to the BusinessLine , Russsh founder Bharat Ahirwar said there are two reasons for renaming the start-up.

“Russsh truly depicts both the scarcity of time that our clients have and the speed of booking our service right up to delivery (same-day). Last year, it took over 20 minutes to book a service, today it’s done in under three minutes and delivered swiftly, safely, as per instructions.”

No peons

The second reason, Ahirwar said, was that the company’s team of 150 errand boys, whose average age is 24 years, was not too happy with the “peon” part of the old name. “Most people thought their designation was ‘peon’ instead of ‘field executive’,” he said. “I want our employees to be proud of the company they work for. And it’s not just they who are happy (with the new name) — our 50,000 customers have given us the thumbs up on the new name.”

Earlier, the company charged a flat fee of ₹200 a task. Today, an insurance component has been included in the service fee, so the charges range from ₹220 up to ₹500 depending on the value of the delivery to be made.

With operations in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai, the bootstrapped start-up had raised seed funding of $250,000 last July
